These workshops will help with Managing Students' Challenging Behavior.
Course Offering Number 3 (Improving Learning and Independence for Students with ASD and Developmental Disabilities)
The courses below involve watching a video/slide presentation of approximately 1 1/2 hours in length. Participants will practice what they have learned by answering questions embedded throughout each presentation. At the end of each course, participants will be required to take a final online quiz and receive a passing grade of 80%. Following completion of each workshop, educational assistants will receive a certificate of completion which includes the number of hours spent participating in these classes.
This course is addressed to individuals who are working with students with autism (and developmental disabilities) in inclusive classrooms. Topics include analyzing problem behavior and identifying accommodations and adaptations; dealing productively with challenges such as social, communication, and independence challenges; and understanding reasons for rituals and sensory challenges and addressing them.

Virtual behavior bootcamp designed to provide basic, necessary information for administrators to use when working with students and coaching their staff regarding challenging behavior
This institute is designed to provide information and applicable strategies to instructional staff that support students with disabilities in their classrooms.
A series of classes that provide strategies and interventions to enhance behavioral consultative services within schools.
In these courses, you will get an introduction to writing positive behavior support plans. You will learn about the different functions and how they serve behavior. You will learn the importance of making your behavior plan support positive behavior learning and the importance of teaching replacement behaviors. A lot of times, the teaching of replacement behaviors often gets left out of the plan. Lastly, you will have an introduction on the importance of collecting data once a behavior plan has been developed and implemented.
Administrator Note: This training will need to be completed by the end of the first nine week grading period.

This workshop will help BAs establish effective working relationships with consultees by examining forms of resistance and learn tips and tactics to overcome them.
You've created a strong plan; you’ve trained school personnel to implement it correctly. Now you need to make sure the intervention is carried out properly and with consistency. BAs often find it difficult to ensure everyone follows best practices; encountering consultees who are unprepared to stick with the program and collect reliability or treatment integrity data. This Workshop will show you the importance of systematic monitoring so that your program is implemented with integrity.

This initial course will introduce BAs to the roles, challenges, and models that contribute to effective school-based cosulting.
This Course brings together a number of disparate “special” subjects, including ways to teach the specific skills of attention-getting, requesting a break, and toileting, the uses for visual supports to help students with autism, and the use of creative reinforcement systems.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically validated intervention for children with autism. ABA has been endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General as an effective treatment for autism. This workshop will provide an overview that defines the field of applied behavior analysis and explains why it is so successful.
This Course provides a strong foundation in understanding the challenges of a student with autism from a learning and independence perspective. You’ll see how a student’s skill development differs from the typical, strategies to support him in the classroom, and ways to leverage his learning style. Finally, you’ll get a glimpse into the lives of six students with autism and the teachers that make a difference in their lives.
This Course provides a comprehensive look at the issue of social skills development in students diagnosed with autism.
